The Jews and Food: Tradition, Sustainability and Health panel will explore the intersection of Jewish tradition and contemporary concerns about food and its relationship to local and global health and environmental issues. The food movement in America continues to expand in scope and has major implications for global health, from growing concerns about hunger and nutrition to childhood obesity, from genetically modified food to ethical treatment of animals and to environmental concerns about the planet. The emerging Jewish food movement is working with Jewish communities to take a more thoughtful approach toward food, its sources, and the impact that food choices and policies have on the environment.
