Aresty Visiting Post-Doctoral Scholar Position in Jewish Studies

The Allen and Joan Bildner Center for the Study of Jewish Life at Rutgers University-New Brunswick invites applications for the position of Aresty Visiting Post-Doctoral Scholar for the 2020-2021 academic year.

In 2020-21, the Aresty Visiting Scholar is a one-semester (fall or spring) appointment to a recent PhD (earned no earlier than 2016) in any field of pre-modern (i.e., pre-18th-century) Jewish Studies.

The post-doctoral scholar will pursue research while at Rutgers. The scholar is expected to be in residence in the university area and to be actively engaged in the intellectual life and outreach programs of the Bildner Center and the Jewish Studies Department. The post-doctoral scholar’s responsibilities may include giving a faculty seminar or participating in other forums to contribute to the Department of Jewish Studies and the Bildner Center.

Reitman Visiting Scholar Position in Jewish Studies

The Allen and Joan Bildner Center for the Study of Jewish Life at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, invites applications for the position of Reitman Visiting Scholar for the spring semester of the 2021 academic year.

The Norman and Syril Reitman Visiting Scholar is a one-semester appointment for a scholar in the field of modern Jewish history. The visiting scholar will pursue research, teach, and, if relevant, be engaged with the public-facing activities of the Bildner Center. The Reitman scholar is expected to teach the one-semester survey, “Modern Jewish History,” a core course for majors and minors in the department of Jewish Studies that is cross-listed with the department of History. It is desirable that the Reitman scholar be in residence in the university area in order to be actively engaged in the intellectual life and outreach programs of the Bildner Center and the Jewish Studies Department.
