A two-day symposium in New Brunswick on the life and legacy of one of 18th-century Berlin’s most influential Jewish women will open Monday, Sept. 29. “Sara Levy’s World: Music, Gender, and Judaism in Enlightenment Berlin” will celebrate a saloniere and committed Jew who was a seminal figure at the beginning of the Jewish Enlightenment in Germany.
